Geographical and Historical Profile
The name of Ruheibani Marble comes from the region in which this marble exists which is the mountainous region of Ruheiba, located in Eastern Kalamoun mountains where it is 70 Km. Far from Damascus to the eastern north. This region (AlKalamoun) has historical, religious ,and human importance through eras. In these regions the human being archeology, old stone era (lower Baliot) and new stone era human being (Nioliet) who lodged in caves and grottos to avoid wild animals. It is known that the german archeologist (Alfred Rost) detected these ruins through four seasons of drilling between 1930–1933, and the civilizations come successively from Papillan, Assyrian, Palmyrian, Pezantinian and Islamic etc. leaving ruins, historical and religious ancient monuments. And this region Al Kalamoun is considered one of first regions to which the priests came to portend the Christian religion and spread it, as well as in all Syrian regions and there still so far Christian old ruins go back to the early eras of Christianity. And we see the Islamic ruins spread everywhere indicating the originality. Of Islamic art and its abundance with ornaments and engravings and distinctive architectural which spread in the whole world with the spread of Islam. So, we find, through the variety of ruins in this region, a clear evidence on the richness and distinction of the region as to civilization and historical point of view.
Profile of nature of Ruheibani marble:
It is sedimentary stone transferred under
pressure and heat to marble stone. where it was re-crystallized in
a new form which gave its atoms adherence and compact transferring
to marble. but its chemical structure is calcium carbons. Specific gravity 2.70 g/ cm3 Water assorbtion 0.31 %. Pressure resistance 1898 Kg /cm2. Rupture 147 Kg/cm2. Bending 90.72 kg/cm2.
